HALO JEPARA- Commercial flights to Karimunjawa are behind schedule. If the Fly Jaya airline was originally scheduled to operate in April 2025, it is now estimated that it will be July 2025 at the earliest.

Currently, Fly Jaya Airline is still in the process of obtaining an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) permit at the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation.

Head of the Central Java Youth, Sports and Tourism Service (Disporapar), Agung Hariyadi, confirmed this postponement.

“Flights to Karimunjawa are still postponed, because the airline is still processing permits,” he said, Wednesday (26/2/2025).

Furthermore, Agung explained that the AOC certificate is an official permit from the civil aviation authority which is required for commercial flight operations.

“The AOC process includes preparation stages, submission, document evaluation, inspection, and operational trials,” he explained.

If everything goes smoothly, he said, licensing is expected to be completed in July 2025.

On the other hand, it was stated that this flight plan was highly anticipated by many parties.

“This flight plan is highly anticipated and can boost tourist visits to Karimunjawa. “However, safety and regulatory compliance remain a priority,” stressed Agung.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism in a post on Instagram said that this flight route serves Yogyakarta (Adisutjipto)–Karimunjawa and Semarang (Ahmad Yani)–Karimunjawa. The flight will use an ATR aircraft with a capacity of 70 passengers.

At the regional level, the Daily Executive Head of the Jepara Regency Transportation Service, Muh. Tahsin, emphasized the government’s support.

“We have provided a letter of support and are ready to support flights to Karimunjawa,” he said.

He also ensures infrastructure readiness. The public is expected to understand this delay. The government and airlines continue to make efforts so that flights can be realized quickly.

“Hopefully flights to Dewadaru Airport will operate soon,” he said. (*)
